About

Wayne stars as congressman and hero Davy Crockett, who joins forces with Widmark's frontiersman and Harvey's soldier to defend Texas from marauding Mexican general Santa Anna in a desperate stand at the Alamo fort. After a long siege, there's a cataclysmic battle (with uncredited direction from John Ford) and the state is saved by the heroism of the Texans, who give up their lives against incredible odds. There's a lot of talky drama and it takes more than two hours before you get to the fighting, but it remains an American epic.
