Sporting devotion is taken a little too far in this lively adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, starring Schafer as the Washington Senators fanatic who enters into a Faustian pact in order to lead his much-adored team to victory. His wish comes true, even more so when he is transformed into a team-leading big hitter (at which point Hunter assumes the role).
It might be one of the more implausible spins on the old legend, but it's certainly one of the most entertaining, with Schafer and Hunter enjoying themselves immensely and the Adler and Ross songs giving further zip.
