Synopsis

About

The hills and millions of TV sets were alive to the sound of this film's theme tune and pretty pictures of Hong Kong, where it is set. Admittedly the excellent CinemaScope photography was diminished, but for addicts of weepies, a regular Saturday-afternoon outing of this soapy mixture was a must. Holden stars as a married journalist out East to cover the Korean war. Into his life comes a Eurasian doctor, and they fall into a love made impossible by his wife, their alien cultures and - by implication - racism and politics. Based on an autobiographical novel, it scratches at some surface truths.
