This was the third movie in the Thin Man series starring the supremely elegant Powell as the eponymous amateur sleuth, Nick Charles. His character, aided by socialite wife Nora (Loy) is never out of sight of a cocktail shaker and makes light work of Hammett's creation. Usually there's a perky dog around, but here it's a kid. The story has them visiting the country home of an arms manufacturer who fears for his life. Lots of familiar faces are brought in to liven things up.
But it all rather diluted, as though the ice has melted in the dry martini.
